The seasons are shifting, and as summer fades into memory, the enchanting colors of fall paint the landscape on Pine Ridge reservation, located in Allen, South Dakota..
While we revel in the natural beauty around us, we must also remember that this season brings both wonder and challenges for the people of Pine Ridge. Freezing temperatures, insufficient food, and a lack of proper clothing continue to be pressing concerns.

Supporting Basic Needs
At One Spirit, our essential programs, such as Firewood Distribution, Food Pantries, and the Okini Market, are always bustling with activity. However, as the fall and winter months draw near, the demand for these vital services grows even more critical.
This past week, a mother with five children reached out, urgently needing firewood. When our wood vendor arrived at her home, he not only provided firewood but also inspected her stove for safety. With the mother's consent, we've included pictures that depict the condition of her stove and ceiling—a serious fire hazard. Thanks to a compassionate One Spirit donor, we were able to step in. We provided her with a new stove, pipes, and repairs to ensure her family's safety and warmth throughout the winter. Sadly, her story is a reflection of countless others on the reservation, where children, elders, and families struggle to meet their basic needs during the cold winter months.
In the near future, we're thrilled to announce the opening of three new food pantries.
These pantries will undoubtedly become bustling hubs, requiring frequent restocking. As the temperatures drop, more and more people will turn to us for help staying warm, whether through firewood, coats, socks, or blankets.
