In any culture, women have always been an integral part of the community, and the women of the Lakota are no exception. For generations, the Lakota have practiced a traditional women's society Isnati ceremony (coming of age). For young girls transitioning into their teenage years, this ceremony aims to teach them about their responsibilities, how to cook traditional food, self-care, making healthy choices, education, and planning for their future careers. Taught by mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and other prominent women of the community, it is more than teaching these young women; it also shows them a positive role model.
Two women who are guiding these girls with their example, together with their teachings, are Dr. Sarah Jumping Eagle (the first Lakota female doctor to come from Pine Ridge) and the South Dakota House Representative from the 27th District, Peri Pourier. Traditions such as these, along with other events and activities, can take place in a safe and communal environment thanks to the Allen Youth Center.
Guss Yellow Hair is the man on the ground at the Allen Youth Center, managing the facility. With a bachelor's degree in Lakota studies and a passion for preserving the traditions and values of the Lakota. Guss and One Spirit have been working together to keep the place running, but money and supplies are always crucial, especially for such a vital communal hub.
The Allen Youth Center keeps children off the streets and away from drugs and alcohol by providing them with healthy alternatives. That said, kids are not the only beneficiaries of the youth center; no one in need will be turned away from using its many services. For the kids, there is a variety of activities, including a basketball court out back, paid for by gracious donors, the Lefty Jones Band, and the PD Jackson Foundation. Additionally, there are books to read and lessons in traditional Lakota art, morals, and the Lakota language. Kids and adults in the community benefit from a food pantry on-site, a garden, as well as a laundromat.

One Spirit is doing all it can with help from donors to fund the facility and its many services, despite reduced federal support for food banks, increased cost of goods in general, and the need to hire individuals who can help educate and care for the children. If you would like to support the children of Pine Ridge with a facility to grow up in without the negative effects of poverty, consider donating to One Spirit.
Along with donating to One Spirit, you can visit the Allen Youth Center’s Facebook Page, where you will see an Amazon Wishlist with items the Allen Youth Center needs to better serve the people utilizing the community center.
Guss Yellow Hair stressed a Lakota value that is so very simple, yet could have a profound change on another's life. The girls at the Isnati ceremony will be guided on this value, which is relevant not just to them but to every human being. That is generosity, be generous with your donation, time, or even spreading the word about the Lakota or One Spirit; these acts can change someone's life.
The best part about the combo-focused course in moto x3m is how it rewards creativity. Players can mix different stunts together, creating endless possibilities while refining their riding skills.
