Picture a vast, hilly landscape with flowing rivers of red and beautiful, sweet clouds. You are probably thinking about Gunflint Trail, Minnesota, which is half right. If you were thinking about the strawberry shortcake frybread at Big Back Eats located in Gunflint Trail, Minnesota, then you are a gouda guesser.

A charming food stand operated by the Lakota Workforce Development/Employment Program is now open and serving customers. You can visit the stand on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Don’t be corny, stop by and try one of their corn dogs. Don’t be a jerk, head over to Big Back Eats and try one of their Jamaican Jerk Sandwiches. They have a wide variety of global and indigenous cuisines; don’t be afraid to take a whisk and try something new.

The program helps Lakota on Pine Ridge learn new skills that can be brought back to the Reservation. All of this has been made possible thanks to the dedicated individuals running the program, One Spirit, your generous donations, and the support of The Lefty Jones Band. If you are in the area and have the thyme, consider supporting Big Back Eats directly; otherwise, you can help by donating.
