Urgent need: Fire on the Rez

In the early hours of the morning, a housing unit called the Elder Complex in Kyle burned down.

We have not received any reports of injuries or deaths, but we have been told that 100 people, including children and elders, have nowhere to go and no belongings. With temperatures as low as -6°F and wind chills below even that, this is dangerous.

We are working now to provide them with clothing and food and support their immediate housing needs while local leaders on the ground figure out how to shelter them.

Pine Ridge residents often travel 100+ miles for laundry, so we're building three local laundromats. This project will provide essential services, create jobs, and use profits to fund youth programming.

Food banks for diabetics

More Info

Nearly 50% of adults over the age of 40 have diabetes on Pine Ridge. It's imperative to have food banks with appropriate offerings.

We strive to provide sustainable, culturally appropriate programs that promote self-sufficiency, economic development, and educational opportunities for the Lakota people.
