Camp Marrowbone

Teaching Youth Life Skills through Lakota Values

In partnership with the Sioux YMCA, Camp Marrowbone is a summer camp for children to spend time outdoors and embrace Lakota culture. Activities include arts and crafts, hiking, outdoor sports, and water activities as well as traditional Lakota education and traditions.

One Spirit will be sending 120 kids ages 8-15 from the Pine Ridge Reservation to Camp Marrowbone this summer free of charge to the youth, giving them new experiences and contacts that will help them grow, all within a culturally appropriate environment.

Transforming the Lives of Lakota Youth

Camp Marrowbone offers a safe environment where kids can learn, explore, and grow. They teach life skills through the character traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and traditional Lakota values. Every year, youth make new friends, get the opportunity to try new activities, and make fun, summer memories that'll last them a lifetime.

One Spirit is proud to partner with Camp Marrowbone to send 120 youth ages 8-15 to the camp this summer for one-week or two-week stays. Thanks to generous scholarships, these young people will have the opportunity to attend this transformative camp without a minimal financial burden.

How to Support Camp Marrowbone

While the youth won't have to pay to attend the camp, they will need to bring their own equipment—a financial burden to some. So, we are asking for people to give camping supplies and equipment that the young people might enjoy. They'll need:
