PROJECT:

New Food Pantries Established to Combat Food Insecurity

There is currently one food pantry operating in Allen that feeds hundreds of individuals every month. Due to overwhelming need, we have established 2 new pantries that are close to completion and are nearly ready to open: one in Manderson and one in Pine Ridge!

As refurbished shipping containers, these food pantries play a crucial role in supporting families across the reservation, often becoming the sole source of food and groceries for many after their government assistance has been exhausted. As benefits quickly dwindle towards the end of the month, these pantries fill a critical gap, ensuring that families do not have to go without essential nutrition. This program is vital in combating food insecurity, offering both immediate relief and a sense of community support to those who find themselves in need.

In order to get all of these pantries ready to open and fully stocked, $13,500 is needed to buy the final freezers, tables, shelving, and food.

You can support the completion and stocking of these food pantries with a donation to One Spirit today at www.onespiritlakota.org/donate
